"The (Not So!) Jolly Roger" is an interactive Numeracy-based
dramatic performance written for Key Stages 1 and 2 focusing on
the importance of learning numbers. The piece comprises a 30 minute

When Poppy is off school ill, her Granddad pops round
to cheer her up with a bedtime story. It soon becomes clear to Poppy
that Granddad’s storytelling leaves something to be desired,
so she sets to work helping to liven up his stories, and bring them
to life. “Tall Tales” looks at story structure
through the genre of fairytales, using extracts from ‘The Three
Little Pigs’, ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘The
Gingerbread Man’. |

Whilst repairing a broken power sub station Alan comes
across Tori, a streetwise kid skipping school. Though Tori is hostile
to Alan’s help at first, the two form an uneasy friendship.
Alan helps Tori re-evaluate her attitude to being in school and the
need for us all, sometimes, to ask for help. “Fibs
& Fables” presents five of Aesop’s Fables (‘The
Boy Who Cried Wolf’, ‘The Fox and The Grapes’, ‘The
Peacock and The Crane’, ‘The Wind and the Sun’,
and ‘The Ant and The Dove’) in a cartoon-like style, contextualising
the stories for a modern audience. |
