was formed in the Greater Manchester area in 2007. The company’s
aims are to bring quality theatrical productions into schools and
to work as an educational resource to support schools across the
curriculum, aiding children’s social development through the
use of dramatic techniques.
The company’s two founders, Colin Ward and Kathryn
Penton, have a wide range of experience of teaching and theatre,
and have based the company on good practice of both performance
and teaching techniques. Before forming ‘2 Boards & A
Passion’, Kathryn worked as a primary teacher and Leading
Behaviour Teacher in Bolton and Tameside, and Colin worked as a
professional actor and director. He also did a great deal of work
in schools performing for, and working with children, and also training
teachers and staff. Colin and Kathryn both have current enhanced
CRB certificates. Between them they have performed for over 45 years!
They also currently run the Next
Generation Youth Theatre in Mossley which is well known in the
North West and has won awards at local One Act Play Festivals.
Performance
and workshop packages have been designed following consultation
with Headteachers and L.E.A. Advisors in Stockport, Tameside and
Bolton. Performances and workshops have also been planned to fit
in with the DfES S.E.A.L. document.
